Specialist services

We have a specialist adviser in the Bureau who helps clients with Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance Forms, and who will also represent them with benefit appeals hearings if required.

This is for clients who are able to get into the Bureau and who do not need a home visit.

Our specialist adviser also helps young people with mental health problems who need advice and support on all benefits they may be entitled to.

We also run specific outreach projects:

Rustington Outreach

The Bureau provides a service on Tuesday mornings at the
Rustington Parish Offices
34 Woodlands Avenue
Rustington.
This service is primarily for those who would find it difficult to travel to Littlehampton due to disability, age, childcare, lack of transport etc.

Appointments must be booked in advance by telephoning Littlehampton CAB on 01903 724010.

HMP Ford Outreach

The Littlehampton Bureau has been involved in setting up office within the confines of the Probation Service Area of Ford Open Prison for some ten years now. The purpose is to give advice and guidance to inmates who, quite apart from the reason they are being detained, have their own and family problems like everyone else.

The service started as a shared project between the Bognor and Littlehampton Bureaux. In the last few years, Littlehampton has taken it on in its entirety. From reports, the inmates and the Probation Service are extremely thankful.

Employment Tribunals

We can provide specialist support at employment tribunals.

Arun Benefit Advice

This is a home visiting service open to clients who, perhaps due to illness, disability, lack of transport, childcare/caring responsibilities or financial restrictions, may not be able to get into the bureau to seek advice.

The aim of the scheme is to assist these vulnerable clients to obtain welfare benefits advice and to provide help with filling in forms. The advisers can assist through to appeal/tribunal stage if necessary.

This project is open to anybody. However, the primary aim is to tackle poverty and social exclusion by focusing on deprived wards within the district. This is achieved through working with groups in the community and promotion of the service in these areas.

Clients can self-refer by telephoning the bureau and asking to speak to Carol, the admin support worker for this project or by sending an e-mail tocarol@littlehampton-cab.org.uk

Alternatively clients can telephone the Social Services Helpdesk (01903 852800) and speak to an adviser who will pick up when a referral would be appropriate.
