Our aims and principles
The aims of The Littlehampton Citizens Advice Bureau are:
- to ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, or of the services available to them, or through an inability to express their needs effectively and equally.
- to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
- to develop a staff and volunteer workforce that are representative of the communities we serve.
- to develop high quality services, which meet the needs of the communities we serve.
- to work in partnership with other agencies to ensure a holistic approach towards the provision of advice services in Littlehampton & District.
Social Policy
One of the twin aims of the Citizens Advice service is to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
At Littlehampton and District CAB we support this aim in a number of ways:
- Lobbying for change: when local and national statistics indicate a need for a change of policy, we lobby local organisations, including the Benefits Agency and Local Councils. We also use the National Citizens Advice Bureau Network to take up cases at national governmental and departmental level.
- The Littlehampton Social Policy staff member meets with administrative staff at the local Benefits Agency to discuss problems that our clients have with this agency.
- The Littlehampton bureau often contributes to Citizens Advice Social Policy work at national level and the evidence sent and used is mentioned specifically in the published reports.
Please email us if you have any Social Policy issues you would like to raise.
